Chris just IM’d me about some updates to his cross platform webkit based browser, Swift. Screenshot.

In case you’ve been living in the proverbial dark, webkit is the same rendering engine used by Apple’s Safari browser.

If you’re wondering “why develop a webkit browser for windows/mac when there’s already Safari” then you’ve obviously never tried to install Safari 3 on a windows machine. I’ve had a 100% failure rate with Safari on winxp. Swift can be unstable, but at least it doesn’t crash on launch!

Also, cross platform means the same experience on winxp/linux/mac. This is a pretty big deal for me. I use safari exclusively at home, but I’m forced to use a PC at work. Having a consistent interface makes switching platforms less of a pain in the ass.
