iPhone 1.1.3 Upgrade
Posted by BM5k on January 28, 2008 at 01:40 AM
Ok. The 1.1.3 iPhone Jailbreak software is out. I’m ready to try the upgrade on my phone. I’m currently running 1.1.2 jailbroken. A link in the comments on a post at Engadget led me to Nawaf’s site where he has a complete list of instructions for how to get your iPhone up to 1.1.3 and still have all your unofficial native apps.
Here’s a link to the original post on Engadget.
Just a few things, before I begin. I’ve had issues in the past with installer.app and programs that I’d installed BEFORE upgrading the phone’s firmware. Mostly that installer.app doesn’t recognize the software you’ve installed before. This means it won’t automatically inform you of updates etc… So the first thing I’m going to do is uninstall all of my non essentials. In this case, everything except Summerboard, BSD Subsystem, Installer, and Community Sources is going.
Also, a note, I will be starting at step 12 since I already have a jailbroken 1.1.2 with BSD & Installer.
Important Note
I modified Nawaf’s install.sh script to resume the download (by appending the -c option to the wget command on line #24). This saved me a bunch of time when the download stopped because of an ID10T error. If you download the 1.1.3 zip from my server, you will be good to go, otherwise please make this subtle change using your flavorite text editor.
(I will be posting this change as a comment on Nawaf’s site as well.)
My Steps
- Plug iPhone in, either to brick or laptop. This is gunna take a while
- Set iPhone Auto-lock to NEVER (see step 1)
- Uninstall everything but:
- BSD Subsystem
- Community Sources
- Installer
- Summerboard
- Download the 1.1.3 zip file from Nawaf’s site (available here with only the files you’d need following my steps)
- Unzip to your working directory
- Follow Nawaf’s tutorial from step 12, although I use Transmit. Same idea.
- When you put his 1.1.3 soft update files on your iPhone be sure you stick them in the root ’/’ directory. This is IMPORTANT!
- Start the installer
- It seems to be downloading the ENTIRE (read all 162MB) 1.1.3 update from apple! YIKES Note: I did have a problem with this transfer!

I read your blog, and if you wanted to do a Full Official Jailbreak, then start from step 1 from my tutorial if you have an AT&T Sim with iTunes Activated iPhone ! If you don’t, and you want to just soft upgrade but without upgrading the baseband (to use it with other sim cards if yours is unlocked), then read here http://www.modiphone.net/official-113-jailbreak-fixedre-released-sync-fix-on-installer/
good luck..
P.S. I tried to download your modified 1.1.3 zip file but couldn’t download it for some reason, check if it’s from me or from your server ..
